Novartis recall – Excedrin List has been released, check your stockpile

Novartis drugs is offering a voluntary recall on Excedrin, NoDoz and Gas X products (story here). They have just released the list of Excedrin products being recalled. This recall is due to concerns that some bottles may contain stray pills from other medications, or chipped or broken tablets.

The following is the list of Excedrin products on the recall:

All lots of the following Excedrin products have been recalled with expiry dates of December 20, 2014 or earlier:
Excedrin® Extra Strength Caplets
Excedrin® Extra Strength Express Gel Caplets
Excedrin® Extra Strength Gel Caplets
Excedrin® Extra Strength Tablets
Excedrin® Back & Body Caplets
Excedrin® Sinus Headache Caplets
Excedrin® Migraine Caplets
Excedrin® Migraine Gel Tablets
Excedrin® Migraine Tablets
Excedrin® Menstrual Complete Express Gel Caplets
Excedrin® PM Caplets
Excedrin® PM Express Gel Caplets
Excedrin® PM Tablets
Excedrin® Tension Headache Caplets
Excedrin® Tension Headache Express Gel Caplets
Excedrin® Tension Headache Gel Tablets

Go here to print up and fill out the form for the lot numbers you might currently have of these products.  Novartis is paying the suggested retail price plus $2 shipping and handling.  (Form is not clear if you are supposed to return the product, it implies you just submit the form, but then why would they pay you shipping/handling?  I will try to get clarification on that and post updates here)

  1. My boyfriend recently purchased 2 bottles of Excedrin Migraine. Novartis is requesting the products be returned for a full refund. This is what I found on their site, “As this is a voluntary recall at the consumer level, Novartis Consumer Health advises consumers who have purchased these recalled products to discontinue use and return them to Novartis Consumer Health for a full refund.”
